The orphan maker
That's what they should call the stomach flu, because it's a real mommy killer, and daddy killer in fact. Why is it that kids always get sick right before, or right after, bedtime? Because then, as we all know, there IS no bedtime....
Chad and I were watching a movie last night, and I was trying to get Max to go back to sleep, which was proving to be harder than usual. And then this horrible wretching sound explodes from my 10 month old son, which happened to be accompanied by undigested strands of spaghetti and bits of ham. LOTS OF THEM!!
What makes having a pre-verbal child sick so much harder is the inability to reason with them.
"No, Max, you can't guzzle down six more ounces of Pedialyte because you will just throw it back up like you did the last six ounces, remember? Let's just take sips, and let your tummy recover."
But every time I tried to give him a sip, he would shake and cry for more, and stare at me with this horrible look of abandonment and abuse. Good thing this only went on ALL NIGHT!
The kicker is they wake up in the morning fine, JUST FINE as if they hadn't cover 2 blankets, six towels, 2 of your shirts, 2 pair of their pajamas, and a set of sheets in vomit!!!!
Oh well, we only have 5 kids, I mean it's not like the odds are another one of them will get sick tonight, right? RIGHT?!?

The Ghosts of New Year's Eve Past
Or "passed out" should we say. This picture is from New Year's 2004. His recovery has been good, he had to go to pre-k rehab, but seems to be a-ok now! Happy 2006 to everyone!!!!
